1) Always ask for the original COA (Certificate Of Authenticity) or  LOA (Letter Of Authenticity) from the studio or Auction house the seller purchased the item from.  If they are an honest dealer, they will send it with the item.  After all, why would they need it if they don't have the item.

 

2) Other COA / LOA:  What about COA or LOA's from the seller.  They normally are not worth the paper they are printed on unless they are a certified dealers.  Authentic Movie Prop Registry is one of those dealers.  We sell only items we can provide a trail to. 

 

3) Lots / Bundles:  Some times dealers will receive a number of items (A Lot or Bundle)  from a studio or auction house.  As the Buyer, you should still receive a copy of a mailing label, copy of the original bill of sale, or copy of any original COA / LOA

 

4) Selling Parts / Pieces:  Sometimes dealers make movie props available in framed pieces or parts.  There are a great collectable and don't cost hundreds or thousands to own a piece of a great movie prop.   These should always come with a copy of the original COA/LOA.

 

5) Check the Internet:  Do you want to know if something is real or not.  A lot of times by spending 30 minutes on the computer, you can find someone who has information on a movie prop or knows something about the prop you want to sell.
